The DC Leadership Team has officially elected its new Chair of the Board: Prof. Dr. Sean Patrick Sassmannshausen

Dr. Seán Patrick Sassmannshausen is Professor for Entrepreneurship at OTH Regensburg, Bavaria, Germany. He is also head of the OTH Start-up Center. The OTH Start-up Center is a team of ten very dedicated members, who aim to support entrepreneurial culture, academic spin-offs and start-up activities at OTH Regensburg and in the region.

The DC Community is thankful for Dr. Danyi for his outstanding contribution and leadership, and warmly congratulate Prof. Dr. Sassmannshausen on his new role.

==========

Seán Patrick Sassmannshausen was born in Ireland, where his father at this time started a company. He relocated to Germany, where he graduated high school (Gymnasium), took a time in the armed forces, left the armed forces as an officer of a reconnaissance squad, and studied International Business in Jena, Germany, and Odense, Denmark. During his studies, he participated in the founding team of a biotech startup, which later was sold.

He gained industry experience in the automotive and electric industries. He then decided to enter into research and took his Doctorate in Entrepreneurship at Schumpeter School of Business and Economics, University of Wuppertal, Germany. From 2000 on he co-developed a start-up support system at the University of Wuppertal, at this time still something new in Germany. He became Professor for SME Management and Entrepreneurship at University of Siegen, Germany.

After receiving an offer from OTH Regensburg, he changed to Regensburg. Many international expeditions in entrepreneurship (Harvard Business School, University of Denver, Colorado, Thunderbird Scholl of Global Business, Phoenix Arizona, Aarhus University, Denmark, RISEBA, Riga, Latvia, University of St. Gallen, Switzerland, Danube University, Krems, Austria) helped him to develop a strong and internationally competitive start-up support system at OTH Regensburg, based on research grants and third party funding. Since then, OTH Regensburg has developed strong entrepreneurship programs and has seen a high number of great start-ups of all kind. Being acquainted with Janos Vecsenyi since their days at Harvard Business School and via EFER, Seán Patrick soon joined the Danube Cup Consortium. The Danube Cup activities became a corner stone of the international activities at OTH Start-up Center.
